My fitness journey began later in life than for most Personal Trainers.
43 years old, married and with young children, I was overweight and tipping the scales at 99Kg. Not a good look at 5ft 7, I can assure you.
My mother’s passing however, provided a catalyst for change. I re-trained as a Personal Trainer and two years later, placed third at the Miami Pro Fitness Model championships, weighing in at 69Kg.
My transformation wasn’t linear. I hit plateaus. But I had an appetite for learning all things training and nutrition related, and this quest led me to Dr Layne Norton, a leading light in the industry for evidence-based practice, and to a blog-post he wrote, entitled, “Anabolic eating for your age.”
In his article, I learned there are fundamental metabolic differences between age groups. These differences present challenges for the mid-lifer to lose fat and build muscle, such as declining testosterone levels and anabolic resistance.
How we overcome these challenges is my area of expertise.With a decade of coaching as a Personal Trainer behind me, my work has served as a mobile laboratory for the practical application of the ideas presented in the book. In this context, I believe I am uniquely positioned to help you.
